Dear
Sir/Madam,
In
“The
'Organic' Label: Who Wins at
the Bank?” in today’s
NYT, typically and as the
headline makes clear, you only
look at things from a
conventional economic stand
point. But there is a lot more
to “Organic” than most people, including many
producers and consumers of
organic goods, realise.
It’s
not just about healthier products, but about
a completely different view of
and attitude towards the world
and our place in it -
especially in respect to
economic activity.
For
you the “bottom line” is
always MONEY. But all the
dollars we make will not buy
back our souls, replace the
natural resources we are
plundering from future
generations, or repair the
damage we are doing to our
planet.
“Organic”
is about a different kind of
economy, one in which the
“bottom line” is expressed
not in dollars, but in
SUSTAINABILITY – not just
until investors have made a
good profit on their
investments, but which
facilitates wholesome living
standards (material, cultural,
spiritual, social) for ALL of
Earth’s 6 billion plus
people for generations to
come.
Yours
sincerely
