Dear
Sir/Madam,
After a long
time feeling,
but unable to
put my finger
on, what was
essential
and special
about
"organic", I
now realise
that it is an
attitude (or
spirit),
similar to
that of
Open
Source, which
gives priority
to something
far more
important than
maximising
financial
gain.
It is an
attitude
associated
with man's
more enlightened,
human
nature, rather
than
the animal
nature
in
which our
socio-economic
order
-
understandably,
in view
of what Darwin
is supposed to
have taught us
about human
origins,
is rooted.
A failure to
understand
this (e.g. in
those
primarily
interested in
exploiting
everything's
commercial
value) is by
far the
biggest
threat we face
- but are not
yet facing up
to.
