Re: Forget all the recounts and litigation. What's needed is a revote!

Dear Sir/Madam,

Following the US presidential elections and the Florida stalemate from Europe, I am full of admiration for the openness with which America conducts its affairs and allows the world to see the workings of its far-from-perfect, but still noble institutions (It was amazing being able to watch the dispute before the Florida Supreme Court live on TV).

On the other hand, the ruthless power struggle that has resulted, particularly on the part of the Republicans, whose rhetoric and accusations show no interest in a fair outcome, but only in gaining the power of the presidency, have given the situation a very ugly and disturbing turn.

Surely the only way of obtaining a satisfactory result now is to stop all the recounts and litigation and instead to have a state-wide revote, certainly in Florida, and perhaps in the other closely contested states as well,  or in the whole Union if necessary.

That would put the decision of choosing the next President back in the hands of the American people, who I am sure, like me, have learned a great deal during the past couple of weeks and will be in an excellent position to produce a higher proportion of valid ballots and a clear winner.

I find it very strange not to have heard this - by far the best, and perhaps only - solution, to what has become an unpleasant and potentially very damaging situation, even being discussed.
