SIR - I agree with your brave editorial [ A load of hot air, Leader, 27 November] There was no agreement at the recent Hague conference on climate change because the evidence is not conclusive. It became a political dispute between the US, Europe and the UK. Britain has reduced its gas emissions because of de-industrialisation, and tries to represent this as a virtuous policy for others. The human race is where and what it is because we have developed technology to be able to react to change. Rich countries like America are able to plan for and respond quickly to natural extreme conditions. This is what we should continue to do.
