SIR - Why does a company that has done so well have to resort to dirty business practices in order to be even more "successful" [Judge finds Microsoft guilty of crushing its rivals, 4 April 2000]? Perhaps because we, led by the media, only measure success in pecuniary terms. If Bill Gates hadn't been so ruthless, he would probably be a few billion dollars poorer today, and in the eyes of the public, less "successful" than he is. Imagine the shame for him, no longer being the richest, and thus the most "successful" man in the world!
