Dear Editors,
The fate of our planet does not depend on reducing the
environmental impact of American lawn mowers, but it does
depend (very much) on us understanding the forces that
oppose it: forces which give economics (the household of
man) priority over ecology (the household of our planet).
We have to recognise that the socio-economic environment
in which we are totally immersed, familiar with and
dependent on, is itself totally dependent on the
natural environment. Otherwise we will perish.
If we fail to create a sustainable economy and way of life
(for 7-9 billion! people), a ruthless mother nature, who is
already "warming up" for the job, will do it for us.
