Dear
Editor,
Regardless of
how much
fossil fuel
there is or
isn't to be
extracted and
put to
economic use ("On
Oil Supply,
Opinions
Aren't Scarce"),
one day it
will
all run
out. But by
then climate
change,
alongside the
depletion of
other natural
resources, as
well as damage
to (Spaceship)
Earth's
life-supporting
ecosystems,
will have
caused a
catastrophic
decline in
economic
activity and
human numbers,
so that those
who do survive
will easily be
able to manage
on renewable
sources of
energy.
I
shudder and am
filled with
shame when I
imagine what
they (our
descendents)
will think of
us.
