Re:    The Sun newspaper, "racism" and the illusion of British identity
Date: Tuesday 30 January 07

In response to the Guardian article, "The Sun also rises" by Graham Dudman, Editor of the Sun, which is making a moral issue of combating "racism".

I'll take lessons in moral behaviour from one of the Sun's page-3 girls, or a prostitute, before I take it from the editor of the Sun.

The Sun, along with the rest of Britain's gutter press, are a disgrace to the European race (because "civilization" doesn't rhyme).

If ever I'm tempted to feel a little smug about being a white man, I just need to pick up a copy of the Sun or one of our other disgusting tabloids to remind myself what a nasty, horrible, stupid (morally inferior) race of people I belong to.

But I'm forgetting: the Sun makes MONEY, and that's what counts in this wonderful country of ours. It is what's always counted. Which makes me SO PROUD to be BRITISH.

[underforce], [tonyellis],  You both misunderstand me. I strongly identity with MY race (i.e. those with whom I share common ancestors and so much history, culture and mentality), which is why I feel so passionate about it when fellow Europeans behave so badly, as those at the Sun and other tabloids do. I wouldn't dare speak like that about another race (I'd rightly be damned a racist if I did), but about my own race, my own people (what is "race" is not our super-extended family?), I do dare, not because I hate them (or myself), but because I love (i.e. identify with) them.

I know, according to Gordon Brown (and David Cameron) I'm supposed to identify with ALL British passport holders (irrespective of their origins, ethnicity, history, culture, religion, or even their native tongue) and unite with them behind the BRITISH government. Well, tell Gordon (and David) I'm sorry, but my heart just isn't in this mass immigration multiculti thing. And where my heart won't go, I will not force my head. You can try beating me with "anti-racist" sticks if you like, but it won't help. I simply do not feel a sense of common identify with multi-ethnic/multicultural Britain. I see and respect Britain's ethnic minorities as individuals, or as members of their particular ethnic, religious or national group, but not as "fellow Britons".

Not that I'm contesting anyone's right call themselves "British". It simply doesn't mean anything to me any more (not emotionally), other than that we share access to the same rights, possibilities, privileges and perks which go with British and EU citizenship, which, as we all know, is what has attracted so many immigrants to our already natively overpopulated part of the world.

Which leaves me, at least, looking for a new sense of shared identity. Does any one fancy helping me set up a website for nice (strictly non-racist) native Europeans? It's time, I think, to start looking for replacements to the power structures of the nation state. Tell Gordon and David (and the Queen) not to worry, though - it's not going to be a bloody revolution; not if I can help it.
