Mr Patterson’s email memo showed a tough manager talking tough with his subordinates and being just the kind of man most American males like to imagine being themselves – at least, judging by the stereotypes that appear in so many US films and TV productions.
The fact that he reveals himself to be an arsehole, under whom no self-respecting empolyee would want to work, casts an interesting light on the American psyche.
