Dear Sir/Madam,
I find leaders like this
(Power to the
people to conserve energy), telling us how we should deal with
our energy problems, very annoying, because ALL newspapers
(not least, the Telegraph), despite the
warnings about Earth's limited resources and finite carrying
capacity (most famously in "The Limits to Growth" published in
1972!), have spent the past 30 odd years not just ignoring, but
rubbishing them, while defending and promoting an utterly
unsustainable economy and way of life, along with the
unsustainable values, attitudes and grossly materialistic
aspirations (rooted in man's primitive animal nature) that
underlie them.
Having helped lead us this far into the
quagmire, dear Editors, are you absolutely sure you are the right
people to be offering advice on the way out?
