Re: Our animal nature and the socio-economic environment
Date: Tuesday, 10 May 05

Dear Sir/Madam,

What almost everyone - right across the political spectrum - fails to recognise and face up to is that our entire socio-economic order is deeply rooted in man's animal nature ("Nature at Bay").

In view of what Darwin taught us about human origins, this should hardly surprise us, but like Christian fundamentalists, we refuse to accept, or even contemplate it.

Because doing so would undermine, not necessarily our religious beliefs, but the religiously held values, attitudes and (material) aspirations that underlie (not just) the American way of life.
